Verizon started updating its carrier-branded version of the Galaxy Note 4 to Marshmallow last week, and now it is rolling out Marshmallow to its Samsung Galaxy Note Edge devices. The new update (known as MMB29M.N915VVRU2CPD1) not only brings Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the Note Edge but it also brings a few other enhancements such as Wi-Fi calling, a new app icon and folder design, Android for Work, as well as Ultra-High-Quality Audio (UHQA) mode.
According to Verizon’s release notes the new Ultra-High-Quality Audio enhancements improves the sound quality for any file type to bring it nearer to Audiophile level quality. At the same time, Verizon has opted to no longer pre-install Amazon Music. Coincidence surely?
As well as Android for Work and UHQA, the Verizon branded Note Edge will also get the normal Marshmallow features, such as Google Now on Tap, Doze mode, application permissions and much more.
Since the jump up to Marshmallow is quite large, you’ll want to make sure you’re on a steady Wi-Fi connection and that your battery has sufficient charge. It’s also worth noting that these updates might not reach your device for a few days, so don’t worry if the update isn’t available for your device yet. However when it does arrive, you’ll receive a notification that there’s a new software update available. Tap Install Now to continue with installation. The device will power off and back on and the installation process will begin.
If you want to manually check if the update is available for your handset then go to About phone->Software updates in the Settings. Then tap Check for updates. If your Note Edge finds a new software update, tap Download now. When the download is complete, tap Install update.
Have you received this update yet? If so, let us know how you’re liking Marshmallow in the comments below!
