This is the season for the release of the biggest phones in the world and they have started pouring out one after another. The undisputed king of smartphones is the iPhone and we all wonder what the next flagship will look like, feel and have. The iPhone 6 was a huge success and the iPhone 6S is beginning to make waves too.
According to trends, the iPhone gets major upgrades every two years and the iPhone 7 is supposed to be the next in line. Therefore, many people including myself are hoping for big and exciting new changes. As usual, the rumour mills have started spreading a lot of stories, lets take a look at some of them even though the iPhone 7 may not be here till late 2016.
Firstly, we have heard that it will probably be released in September 2016 but Apple is considering releasing it earlier and will probably have the same price as the iPhone 6S.
iPhone 7 Design
This is what we can look out for in the design of the all new iPhone:
- Slimmer design which means less than the 7.1mm thick iPhone 6S, According to Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, it might be between 6mm and 6.5mm thick and will therefore be the slimmest iPhone ever made.
- No more camera bump eaning a totally flat back
- No antenna lines
- We hear that Samsung might no longer be manufacturing the iPhone’s chips, another company named TSMC will make them and this will enable the ultraslim design without having to make a lot of other tradeoffs.
- It might have a total metallic design and no bezels in the display which would be a pretty bold move.
- To keep up with the competition, analysts believe it will become rugged, which means it could be dust and water resistant like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC M9 amongst others. Its screen could also respond to wet fingers unlike most waterproof phones.
- We hear Apple plans to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack to conserve space which might mean that the iPhone 7’s headphones will be wireless.
- There are rumours that the iPhone 7 will have a Quad HD or 4K display and knowing Apple this is very possible.
- We might also see a stronger screen on the phone, Apple has a new patent which makes bumpers come out of the screen’s edges so that the device does not touch the floor when it is dropped.
- The iPhone is known for its superb camera but it just did a major upgrade on the camera of the iPhone 6S, upping it from 8 MP of the iPhone 6 to 12 MP and increasing the front camera to 5 MP so most likely there won’t be any changes for the iPhone 7 camera.
- There are reports that the phone will use a hexa-core A10 chip which will be a great improvement from the dual core chip on the iPhone 6S, The RAM will most likely remain at 2GB and the OS will most likely be iOS 10.
- Other features that the iPhone 7 might get are multi-Force Touch tech, dual camera, wireless charging, fingerprint scanner in the screen and a headset compatible USB Type-C connector.
iPhone 7 Price
The price of the iPhone 7 will most likely be the same as the current price for the iPhone 6S which is about $649 (150,000 Naira) but depending on its specifications and features, it might be slightly higher.
All these are speculative, lets wait patiently and see how many of these come to pass. Visit this page regularly for more information as they unfold.
